Daughter K called from Ghana the other day and I told her about a little chair I had upcycled into a "desk" for for our youngest granddaughter. She asked me to post a picture of it, so...

... here you go K, a tiny little desk. :)



I started with a little unfinished child's chair I found at the thrift store. I removed the little wooden seat, then cut the back legs off level with the front legs. (The back legs had continued up to form the part of the back of the chair.) Then I put it back together again, using some of the unneeded back pieces to add bracing underneath. I used an old 1x6 as the top, cutting it in half, and attaching the halves together lengthwise. I rounded the corners and gave it a good sanding and attached it to the base I'd made. I finished it off with a little paint, stain, and polyurethane .



It's so fun to make something from nothing.... especially when it's for one of the grandkids...

A few more snapshots of home for our daughter in Ghana...

An intense, but quick burst of snow blew through last night, leaving the windows on the north side of the house plastered with snow...

After I turned out the lights I noticed the neighbor's barn light, just barely visible through the snow, glowing on the hill.

Such a peaceful evening...

A few more snapshots of home for my daughter, serving in the Peace Corps, to enjoy.

Here is B (dd#2) who tends to bring her work with her when she visits...



Poor B, she's trying to have a serious conversation... lining up employees to work on a new project in New Mexico... and I'm taking pictures.

It's a testament to her attentional skills that she didn't lose her train of thought completely.



Can you tell she's always cold at our house? ;) I really should turn up the heat for her...

Off the phone but not really getting into this whole picture taking thing.



Ah... much better.

(This is the point at which she gave up and realized I wouldn't stop taking pictures until she smiled...)



These pictures remind me of this series of pictures we took just over a year ago... We were at E's house, right before Christmas, taking pictures of the whole family together. B took advantage of a break in the picture taking to get some work related phone calls in...

Her sisters didn't let her get away with it... :)

These photos never fail to make me smile.  Poor B... it's hard to be a serious Type A around us. And yes, she maintained her conversation (work related, of course) during the entire series of photos!

Grandson "Little K" turned 7 yesterday.  He picked Famous Daves for his birthday dinner... Mmm. Here are a few pictures from dinner.

Aunt and niece... it won't be long before the younger one is the taller one! (if she isn't already... :)



The three older grandkids sang the soundtrack of "Frozen" after dinner...

Greeting the "Wilbur the Pig" mascot. How weird to have a pig mascot at a BBQ place... where you go to eat pork. Am I the only one who thinks that's a little odd?
